Come to Wurstfest 2016 on February 5th and 6th to enjoy all the toe tapping music in store.

The Kleinstadtlers and the Engelberg Dancers will be back to showcase their dancing talents along with some very clever Mt. Angel school children while musical groups playing are Mt. Angel’s own Z Musikmakers, the Polka Beats, Bavarian Echoes with Marlene Meissner and the European Take-Out Band.

This is BAVARIAN ECHOES 4th year at Wurstfest. This lively, local band features an accordion, a tuba, a trumpet and drums. They play traditional ethnic music, authentic German songs with some fox trots, two-steps and country tunes thrown in for the dancers in the crowd. The accordionist, Marlene Meissner, has performed at every Oktoberfest since the second one in 1967!

The EUROPEAN TAKE-OUT BAND is returning for its third year at the Wurstfest. Based in Portland, the band gets your toes tapping right away with its Oktoberfest-type music. The group consists of two accordions, bass, drums and a vocalist. The band also engages the audience and teaches easy dances for audience participation.

The Z MUSIKMAKERS are Mt. Angel’s own musically talented mix of family and friends who always delight Oktoberfest and Wurstfest audiences, young and old alike. They present a festive mix of traditional and Bavarian-flavored music, with odds and ends that highlight the group’s unique talents. Their love of musically celebrating Mt. Angel’s Bavarian heritage stands out.

The OREGON POLKA BEATS started in 1987 and the three band members bring a length and depth of professional music experience to Wurstfest having played many hundreds of festivals in Oregon, Washington, California, Idaho, and Arizona. The band has been hugely popular at all the area Oktoberfest Festivals and perform all types of dance and foot-tapping music.

Welcome back to the KLEINSTADTLERS, a favorite of Wurstfest crowds. To stirring music, these local dancers perform thrilling dances mixing high art and daring gymnastics. Although inspired by traditional Bavarian dances, they add a unique modern twist to their music and choreography, energized with a techno beat unlike any folk festival polka you’ve ever seen.

Another favorite at Wurstfest are the ENGELBERG DANCERS, also a local troupe, perhaps more traditional than the Kleinstadtlers, but very engaging. Each dance is specially designed to showcase their unique style, an eye-catching blend of graceful and intricate dance choreography.

And, of course, there are at the very cute and very talented KINDER DANCERS who never fail to wow the crowd with their dancing abilities, rhythm and big smiles.
