Fans of America’s Largest Oktoberfest are encouraged to celebrate Zinzinnati’s German heritage by wearing Wiesnkoenig apparel, the only official licensed supplier of the original Lederhosen & Dirndls for the Munich Oktoberfest. Traditionally, lederhosen are leather shorts with H-shaped suspenders, worn by men in Alpine regions such as Bavaria. A Dirndl is a woman’s dress in the style of Alpine peasant costume, with a full skirt and a close-fitting bodice.

“We’re proud to collaborate with two great Zinzinnati institutions,” said Patrick Sheeran, vice president of Programs and Downtown Council. “Wiesnkoenig celebrated its first birthday in Over-the-Rhine, last week, and Glier’s will see its 70th anniversary in 2016.”

Oktoberfest Zinzinnati, presented by Sam Adams, is September 18-20, 2015 along Fifth Street in downtown Zinzinnati. The celebration showcases the rich German heritage of Southwest Ohio, as well as tasty samples of German-style music, food and beer. First held in 1976, the event has grown to be America’s largest Oktoberfest with nearly 650,000 people attending each year.
