Winding its way from Mannheim to Prague, the Castle Road links more than 90 formidable castles and splendid residences as one of the most well-known travel routes in Germany. In the portion of the road in SouthWest Germany, you will encounter world-renowned destinations including the baroque palace of Mannheim, the famous Heidelberg Castle, the Schwetzingen Palace Garden, Burg Guttenberg, Bad Wimpfen and Hirschhorn among many others. The trail courses through the charming Neckar Valley near Heidelberg. The castles could be straight out of a movie. If you have ever dreamed of spending the night in a real life castle, you are in luck because Castle Hornberg has been turned into a hotel, built in the 11th century. Surrounded by vineyards, the castle rises above the Neckar Valley and offers panoramic views and several restaurants. Bad Wimpfen is a medieval charmer with its cunning streets, charming artisan shops and houses. The Blue Tower that dates back 800 years.
