In Germany, Wittenberg, the cradle of the Reformation, is hosting a major two-part exhibition. Part One examines Luther’s impact on world history, and on the Lutheran Church itself. Featured are 95 people, whose lives were influenced by Luther, from painter Lucas Cranach and J. S. Bach to Martin Luther King Jr. (April 13th to July 16th, 2017.) Part Two consists of 95 treasures that Luther saw or actually used himself. Included are Luther’s very own Bible and Lucas Cranach’s little-known portrait of Luther, showing him dressed as Junker Jörg, an aristocrat (August 3rd to November 5th, 2017).
