Free Open House – German American Heritage Center, Davenport, Iowa

On January 3rd visitors can enjoy free admission to the German American Heritage Center where they can enjoy the GAHC’s award-winning permanent exhibit “The German Immigrant Experience” as well as a special presentation “The Enemy at Home” by Dr. Cora Lee Kluge at 1:30 pm to learn how German-Americans both helped and hindered their national profile during the WWI era.

The German American Heritage Center has two additional temporary exhibits that you can also enjoy during your visit. This holiday season the exhibits are “Amazing Advent Adventures” which looks at the practices, origins, and continued creativity of design and “Winterscapes” which features several infividually created pieces of winter scenes by members of Artists Unlimited. To wrap up your visit, the gift shop has many wonderful and unique items made authentically in Germany.

The German American Heritage Center is open on Sundays from 12:00-4:00 pm. For more information on this event, please call 563-322-8844 or visit the GAHC’s website at The Center is also open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm but is closed on Mondays.
