Black Forest Christmas Market in the Ravenna Gorge

| November 20, 2015 | 0 Comments

In the enchanting Black Forest there is a tangible magical Christmas spirit. Situated in the heart of the Black Forest valley is the Ravenna Gorge a deeply wooded cleft spanned by the impressively tall stone viaduct of Germany’s steepest railway bridge. The Ravenna-Gorge Christmas Market mixes a romantic ambience with the wild and untamed magic of the forest. Set in a ravine in the middle of the forest, 40 small wooden houses sell one of-a-kind lanterns, artisan handcrafts, and regional products that are perfect presents to put under your tree. Not only is the ambience of the forest breathtaking but also with the live music and food and drink offered, there is something for everyone. At this festival you take a step into another world. The market is only open on the four Advent weekends leading up to Christmas and has an entrance of 2,50 Euros per person. The Ravenna Gorge is a short hike away from the Hofgut Sternen Hotel, which has a fascinating and impressive history with past guests ranging from Marie Antoinette to Goethe. From here you can get into the Christmas mood with a short walk to the St Oswald Chapel that is over 850 years old. At the Ravenekeller you can try some fine wines from local winegrowers and visit the glass blowing workshop.
